Sports Direct to undergo independent review

Endaba Group

Mike Ashley has confirmed Sports Direct will undergo an independent review of working practices and corporate governance in light of concerns raised by shareholders. Ashley and his retail empire have faced intense scrutiny from the media and MPs after it was revealed staff at its Shirebrook warehouse were paid below minimum wage. Share prices for the company have plunged 5% following a pessimistic profits forecast by brokers. Sports Direct has moved to address concerns by offering casual retail staff guaranteed hours instead of zero hours contracts and ensuring all warehouse staff are paid above the national minimum wage.
