River Island reports flat sales in challenging environment

River Island has posted flat full-year profits and sales. The privately owned high-street retailer has 292 stores globally, with operating profits of £145.8m in the year to December 2015. River Island’s high street fashion rivals have struggled of late with unpredictable weather patterns and the rise of fast fashion etailers such as Asos and Boohoo. However, River Island Chief Executive Ben Lewis has stated that their move recent results are ‘a good set of results given the challenging environment in which we operate.’ Lewis expanded that the digitally savvy consumer saw River Island experience strong online and multichannel growth.
