Neil Cole, Chairman, President and Chief Executive officer of Iconix Brand Group Inc, is stepping down. He will continue as a ‘Special Advisor’ until the end of September to help with the transition. Peter Cuneo, a board member since 2006, is now the Chairman and interim CEO. This isn’t the only change to the brand management company’s leadership team this year. Seth Horowitz resigned from his role as Chef Operating Officer. The month before, March, Jeff Lupinacci, Chief Financial Officer, resigned. In his place, David Jones was named CFO and Executive Vice President in June. The Iconix board have formed a search committee to assess candidates for the CEO role and will hire an Executive Search firm to help!
Former Goldman Sachs partner Michael Evans is now the President of Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. He will oversee their international expansion.
Jimmy Choo has named 2 non-executive board directors. Meribeth Parker, ex Publishing Director at Hearst Magazines UK, and Anna-Lena Kamenetzkyu, ex Head of Business Development at JAB Holding.
James Taylor has been hired as the Financial Director of Anya Hindmarch. He is also on the Executive Committee. Previously, he was the Director of Finance for haircare brand GHD.
James Crawford is Majestic Wine’s new Group Finance Chief, as the retailer enters a growth phase. Crawford, who is currently the Finance Director of Naked Wines, will succeed the current Group Finance Chief, Nigel Alldritt. After its acquirement of Naked Wines in April, the business has entered a new and exciting growth phase in stores and online. It’ll be interesting to see how they progress of the next few years as they transform the enlarged business into a multichannel, international wine specialist.
Celebrity stylist Brad Goreski has joined Xcel Brands Inc as Creative Director for fashion retailer C. Wonder. Xcel Brands acquired C. Wonder Brand last month for $12.5M from Burch Acquisition LLC. Xcel Brands is an omnichannel brand management company; they own and manage Isaac Mizrahi, Judith Ripka and H Halston brands.
Mike Bracken, the Government’s Chief Data Officer and Executive Director of Digital, has been appointed to oversee the Co-op’s digital operations as new Chief Digital Officer, which he will start in October. He will be responsible for driving the group’s digital content and strategy and engaging the retailer’s members. He will also have a place on the group’s executive committee and report directly to Chief Executive Richard Pennycook. Let’s see if he can make a similar transformation to the Co-op as his approach did for public services.
Chief Executive Gareth Williams is parting with Sofa.com six months after the online furniture specialist was taken over by new owner. Sofa.com was acquired by private equity firm CBPE Capital in February for £50m following a year-long search. After the acquisition, CBPE confirmed it would back the existing management team to continue the business’ growth and increase its customer reach across the UK. It is unclear at the moment whether Williams is leaving for another role.
