Christo Wiese, South African billionaire and owner of value retailer Pep&Co says he is planning to “aggressively” expand into international markets when it’s right for them. Opening 50 stores in the UK in 50 days by mid-September was risky and a “bold idea”, but,  if this model proves to be a success, the value chain will expand into other territories, Eastern Europe, Africa and Asia as potential locations.

Wiese also owns New Look, Virgin Active and has a large share in Iceland describes these businesses as solid, which are successful in the domestic market, but also have the potential for international expansion.
