Matchesfashion.com is planning to launch a 1 hour delivery service and VR to replicate a physical store experience. The luxury etailer believes that such a fast turnaround on delivery will soon be the norm in major cities, and they aim to offer the feature on their websites in key cities within 18 months. Despite mass-market names Amazon and Walmart heavily investing in drone-based delivery, Matchesfashion has dismissed claims they will be using drones to achieve their delivery ambition, saying that airspace regulations may cause them problems. They haven’t dismissed all technology; CEO Ulric Jerome said at WWD’s Global Fashion Forum that the etailer is also looking at 360-degree video ahead of a move into VR.
Average basket sizes have risen 15% on the company’s websites, and it currently boasts an overall customer retention rate of 65%, which rises to 90% for its top 10 customers! 48% of their transactions are now completed on a smartphone or tablet, despite analysts claiming mobile is less appealing for luxury shoppers!
