The Australian value accessories retailer Lovisa is planning to open 5 stores in the UK ahead of the Christmas trading period. Lovisa already has 239 stores globally in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia and South Africa and has franchised stores in the Middle East. It is expected to compete with retailers such as Claire’s Accessories in both high streets and shopping centres. It is unclear at the moment what their long term plans for the UK are.
Lovisa is one of many Australian retailers entering the UK market. Stationery retailer Kikki.K is planning to open around 100 UK stores and a flagship in London in October. Competitor Smiggle opened its first UK store in February last year and is potentially planning up to 200 shops here.
Lovisa wants to be “at the forefront of the fast fashion jewellery retail industry” according to their website, targeting females from the ages of 25 to 45.
