Would you dine on insects? Korea has opened the country’s first insect restaurant! Food researcher and marketing expert Kim Young-Wook has opened the restaurant in Seoul, with a menu including cookies, sandwiches and pasta. He claims the biggest challenge has been overcoming the stigma and the ‘disgusting factor’, but he wants to change that! Rather than promoting the food as mealworms, silkworms and crickets, he has been marketing it as ‘low-carbon and high-protein’. The size of the market for insects was estimated to be worth an incredible $264m last year!
