Karl Lagerfeld is launching its e-commerce site, in 5 languages, 97 countries and with launch partner Artnet.com, which will auction three one-of-a-kind bags alongside their original sketches. It will go live in early November. The site will house larger range of assortments of women’s products, plus licensed products including fragrances, watches, eyewear and novelty items. Menswear and Childrenswear, which are launching in Spring 2016, are not yet included. The Chief Executive Pier Paolo Righi explained that the brand is capitalising on their high social media engagement, which has more than 1.6m follows on Instagram and 100k monthly visitors to its website.
The one-of-a-kind bags will be revealed November 2nd, with bidding opening on Artnet on November 5th and closing November 10th. The online store will also reveal new designs every two weeks and often feature capsule collections made especially for the site. This web launch comes alongside their brick-and-mortar development in Düsseldorf as their latest addition. Currently, it has 20 directly operated stores and around 20 franchise locations, including 8 locations in China and 6 in the Middle East. They believe that a 100 stores is still a “realistic objective” for the following years.
