Justin King, ex Sainsbury’s boss, joins private equity firm Terry Firma

This will be Justin King’s first major role since leaving the supermarket chain. King was in charge of Sainsbury’s for ten years until last year and he is credited with turning the retailer around.

He will be the Vice-Chairman of Terry Firma. He will also be Terra Firma’s Head of Portfolio businesses and will be given responsibility for much of the group’s interests, which includes Wyevale Garden Centres. Terry Firma’s other investments include Odean and UCI Cinemas and Four Seasons Health Care.

King has been taken on for his ability to turn around and run businesses in various sectors. It is hoped he will harness their operational expertise and drive forward their agenda with their existing diverse portfolio.
