Smythson

Mark Daley is now their new Chief Executive, effectively immediate. Andy Janowski stepped down in 2013 and the position had not been filled. He was formerly president of the Asia Pacific division at Ralph Lauren. What will his knowledge of the Asian market bring to the brand?

Big W

Alistair McGeorge, former UK retail executive, has stepped down from his role as boss of Big W for “health reasons”. Penny Winn, Head of Retail Services, will take on the role of Managing Director on an interim basis whilst they search for a replacement.

House of Fraser

Mark Madden, former Director of Digital Products for the Ministry of Justice, has been appointed the role as Digital Director. The government online guru, who will report into Andy Harding, Chief Customer officer, joined House of Fraser this week in a newly created role. Sarah Baillie, Head of Multichannel Business Development, will now report into Madden, whereas previously she reported into Harding. It is hoped he will booster their multichannel offer.

Madden is the second government Digital Director to shift into retail, as Mike Bracken was hired by the Co-op to be their Chief Digital Officer, formerly the Chief Data Officer for the government.

Marks & Spencer

Laura Wade-Gery, Executive Director of Multichannel goes on maternity leave in September. Marks & Spencer have reorganised responsibility for its retail and ecommerce operations. Sacha Berendji, Director of Retail and David Walmsley, Director of M&S.com, will report directly to Marc Bolland, Chief Executive, during Wade-Gery’s four month maternity leave. Helen Weir, Chief Finance Officer, will be responsible for ecommerce distribution during this period.

Liberty

Scott Tepper, Head of Collaborations for Liberty, has been promoted to Fashion Buying Director to replace Stephen Ayres. Ayres left at the beginning of this month to join Avenue 32.

Gina Ritchie, Head of Beauty and Accessories, has too been promoted. She is now the Buying Director for Beauty, Jewellery and Accessories.

Clarks

Jason Beckley, ex Vice President of Marketing at Ralph Lauren, has been appointed the newly created role of Chief Brand Officer at Clarks.
