The new owners of Homebase has revealed their plans to shift the DIY retailer’s store support centre to Witan Gate House, Milton Keynes in December. Earlier this year, the retailer was acquired by Australian conglomerate Wesfarmers, and it is currently sharing an office with Argos and is in the process of being transformed into its Bunnings brand. Earlier this year, Wesfarmers announced they would cut nearly 20% of its head office staff to help to streamline support functions at the DIY chain, where the headcount currently stands at around 600.
The new site at Witan Gate House measures 55,000 square ft and is located less than half a mile from the retailer’s current offices.
Sales at Homebase came in at £320 million in its first full quarter since the acquisition and on a like-for-like basis, customer participation as measured by transactions grew 8.4%.
