Womenswear Director Frances Russell has exited the business not even a month after the departure of General Merchandise boss John Dixon. Her exit is the first change made under Steve Rowe’s management, who assumed his new role on July 17, who wanted to tighten up the management structure and combine Womenswear, Lingerie and Beauty Categories. Jo Jenkins, Director of Lingerie and Beauty, has had her role extended to include Womenswear. There are now three Trading Directors who report into Rowe: Jenkins for Womenswear, Lingerie and Beauty, Scott Fyfe for Menswear and Stephanie Chen for Home and Kidswear. Rowe is not adverse to making changes in his new role as Executive Director, General Merchandise. However, is this the wrong move, since Womenswear is such a big category for M&S. What other decisions will Rowe make?
