First female master tailor on Savile Row

Endaba Group

Kathryn Sargent has become the first female master tailor to open her own premises on London’s Savile Row. Sargent has spent 15 years working on the prestigious street at Gieves and Hawkes, and started with a six months residency, with a keen interest to opening her own permanent fixture on the Row. In 2009 Sargent became the first woman on the street to be appointed head cutter, before leaving in 2012 to create her own Kathryn Sargent Bespoke tailoring house. Sargent said the opportunity to open her own premises was ‘too good not to take up’, and it is certainly a step in the right direction for women in tailoring.
