Majestic Wine has created a new role, Managing Director of its core retail business, which they appointed to John Colley, most recently former Chief Executive of Dutch DIY chain Praxis Netherlands, B&Q Commercial and Marketing Director and Commercial Director at Screwfix. The group’s other businesses, Majestic Commercial, Naked Wines and Lay and Wheeler, will all be run by separate Managing Directors. Colley will report to Chief Executive Rowan Gormley, who took over in April after the retailer acquired online rival Naked Wines.
Gormley has revealed his plans to transform the business. He wants to create a simpler, personalised shopping experience. This can already be seen in their latest offer, launching a ‘Text for Wine’ service, whereby customers can order alcohol via text. He is also dedicated to rebuilding their supply chain, IT, and opening 20-30 new stores.
Majestic Wine will reveal their interim results November 16.
