Dixons Carphone is experimenting with the Internet of Things

Endaba Group

Dixons Carphone is experimenting with the Internet of Things (IoT) to create an Amazon Dash style button that can be used to provide customer support. Comparable to a ‘panic button’, if a device is faulty, pressing the button triggers a call from Dixon’s call centres, with on hand information. IoT was cited as a major factor in the £3.6bn merger between Dixons Retail, including Currys, PC World and Carphone Warehouse in 2014. It is believed the IoT market could be worth £5bn to the company and analysts forecast the sector will be worth more than $100bn globally by 2020!
