Co-op plans to put ethical sourcing at the heart of its new strategy to regrow and transform its business! They will focus on becoming the one number convenience retailer, concentrating specifically on provenance, rather than engaging in the tough supermarket price war. They believe the industry has gone full circle, starting with locality, moving to mass-produced and now consumers are once again becoming more discerning, and want transparency, and to know the source of their products. The retailer has already investor £781m into sourcing British products, the most of any convenience retailer!
