Consumer technology giant is sponsoring the annual Met Gala next year. It is titled “Manus v Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology” and will be held on May 2nd in New York. The event will look into the industry’s fascination with technological innovations, whether wearables or 3D printing. Apple is continuing to infiltrate into the luxury sector; it has done so recently with its collaboration with leather goods house Hermès and the Apple Watch. They recently hired executives who are rooted in fashion, such as its Head of Retail Angela Ahrendts, who was previously Burberry’s CEO and Chester Chipperfield, also from Burberry.
