Handmade at Amazon launched on 8th October in the US on the main site, combining Amazon’s customer experience with handmade, bespoke products, crafted and sold directly by artisans, which is a similar structure to its rival Etsy.
Over 600 handmade items were eligible for Prime next-day delivery from launch and more are being added. The store offers more than 80,000 factory-free items from around the world, 30% of which can be personalised for consumers.
It’s competitor Etsy, which floated on the stock market in April, has almost 1.5m active sellers and 21.7m active buyers. For the three months to June 30, it had sales of $61.4m, which was a 44.4% increase.
