Activist investor urges French Connection to get rid of ‘FCUK’
Activist investor argues French Connection’s ‘FCUK’ branding is no longer “aspirational”. American fund Gatemore Capital Management hold an 8% stake in the British fashion label, and they have urged the retailer to ditch the logo, as well as criticising its ‘disappointing’ performance since the financial crisis. The fund also called for founder Stephen Marks to split his roles as Chairman and Chief Executive as this ‘wasn’t working’. Gatemore believe French Connection to have fallen behind rivals such as Ted Baker and SuperGroup, and shares have fallen 70% in 5 years!
